AKU started as a small shoe repairers during the post war years in Montebelluna, the heart of Italian sports footwear district.

In no time at all, the small family run business expanded its operations, specialising in the production of cross country ski boots and simple trekking boots under the Dinsport brand.

Over 30 years of business, the small workshop has turned into a modern industry, with two production plants, one in Italy in Montebelluna and one in Cluij Napoca, Romania with over 200 employees.

In the mid eighties, the Dinsport brand was put to pasture so as to leave room for the new AKU brand. It was the start of a new stage in life for the company which focused its operations on the trekking footwear market, soon becoming one of the worlds foremost players.

Today AKU is considered one of Europe’s leading brands in the outdoor market, with a significant presence in the major international markets of the USA, Australia, Japan and Korea.
